Sarah Jessica Parker Hosts Fundraiser for President Obama in Her Home

President Barack Obama is having a celebrity-filled month. He's had breakfast with 25 influential young stars; met with Betty White at the White House and now dined with Sarah Jessica Parker and a select group of invitees at a fundraiser in Parker and husband Matthew Broderick's Manhattan brownstone.

The first stop in Obama's fundraising tour of New York City was a visit to Parker's West Village home, where he and First Lady Michelle Obama hung out with an elite guest list on Thursday evening.

According to the New York Daily News, when the Obamas entered Parker's brownstone, she hugged and kissed the POTUS and FLOTUS and then introduced Michelle as "our radiant and extraordinary First Lady."

Among the 50 guests who paid $40,000 a piece to attend the dinner, which the President joked was actually  "date night" for him and Michelle, were Oscar winner Meryl Streep, designer Michael Kors, singer Solange Knowles, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who co-hosted the event with Parker. New Orleans musician Trombone Shorty provided the music.

But one celeb was notably absent: Parker's husband, Broderick. "Matthew had a show," President Obama explained to the gathering (Broderick is currently starring in the Broadway show, Nice Work if You Can Get It).

Obama gave the guests a fundraising speech explaining the fundamental differences between him and his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney.

"We've got as fundamental a choice this time out than we have had in 30, 40 or 50 years," he said.
