In a surprising move, Sarah Palin has announced that she will be stepping down as Governor of Alaska 18 months before her term is up. She will resign later this month, and it is rumored that John McCain's former running mate will set her sights on U.S. Senate or, yup, the presidency.

"It hurts to make this choice but I'm doing what's best for Alaska," Sarah said in a speech from her Russia-bordering backyard. "You can effect change from the outside, and I can too."

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take over as governor of Alaska.

"We know we can effect positive change outside government," Sarah said. "I know the time when its time to pass the ball for victory. Trust me with this decision."

Sorry to see her go? Sorrier to think she might run for Senate or the White House?
