iVillage Woman of the Week: Sarah Palin

Talk about a whirlwind week. With the release of her personal memoir, the kick-off of her bus tour, and her highly anticipated appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Sarah Palin has been front and center in the spotlight.

When Palin resigned from her post as governor of Alaska in July, many people thought she'd disappear from the headlines. But her supporters knew she'd be back -- and stronger than ever. The fact that her book, Going Rogue: An American Life, was an Amazon best-seller before it was even released is proof that she's still able to captivate audiences.

To promote the book, Palin sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a friendly chat on Monday afternoon. The two addressed rumors that Oprah had "snubbed" Sarah by not inviting her on the show during the presidential election, in which Oprah passionately supported Barack Obama. Oprah kept things cordial with the politician, and Palin came out looking like a star. She even helped Lady O achieve her highest ratings in two years.

When the book finally hit stores on Tuesday, readers were given an inside view of what really goes on in the Palin family and we even gleaned 15 family rules the former governor was happy to share.

Love her or hate her, you've got to commend Sarah Palin for her strategic self-promotion. We just might be looking at another maverick in the running in 2012.
