Powders last about two years (or maybe even longer), so long as it's kept dry and bacteria can't grow. Dr. Pugliese says most eye shadows are mineral materials, which means they're ground up rocks and bacteria can't live in them. (They need carbohydrates and nitrogen to live.) If they get wet, throw them out.
