Melanie Brown isn't playing with her deadbeat baby daddy Eddie Murphy. The former Spice Girl hired top lawyer Gloria "I Still Frost My Hair" Allred to represent her in a paternity suit against Eddie and she's come out swingin' with a big press conference earlier today. The petition, filed exactly one week after Eddie became engaged to Tracey Edmonds, seeks to establish Eddie as the father of Melanie's 4-month-old daughter, Angel Iris Brown Murphy. She's also asking for sole custody of the child and "reasonable" child support.
To date the Shrek millionaire reportedly hasn't given her a penny. "I am here today for one reason and one reason only; her name is Angel," Mel said at today's press conference. "Angel is my baby and Eddie's. She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us." Gloria, who never misses a good jab, says this celeb showdown stems from Eddie's "shocking and appalling conduct since he learned Ms. Brown was pregnant" and criticized him for buying his fiance "a big diamond ring," while ignoring Angel.
Gloria is known for taking cases involving women whose rights were violated by men. She represented Nicole Brown Simpson's family against O.J., Amber Frey in the Scott Peterson murder trial and Hunter Tylo when she was fired from Melrose Place after becoming pregnant. No word from the Murphy camp about the press conference or suit, but not expecting much. Here's a guy who earned millions playing an ass. Should we really expect him to be a stand-up guy?
