It's the weekend they have been waiting for. Katy Perry and Russell Brand have already arrived in India for a wedding celebration reportedly lasting up to six full days! The culmination of festivities will take place on Saturday, when the lovebirds tie the knot at the Taj Rambagh Palace in Jaipur.
Sources say that maid of honor Rihanna and boyfriend Matt Kemp will be there, along with about 85 others. From safari tours to sand surfing excursions, the guests who have already arrived in India are enjoying the perks of the lavish pre-wedding activities, while Perry gets prepped for her big day. Already sporting a gold Indian bridal nose ring, the singer is expected to be decorated in traditional henna tattoos.
Helping to put the extravaganza together is celeb wedding planner Mindy Weiss, who has supposedly been bossing around the likes of elephants, camels and even a white horse that Brand is set to ride in on!
As for Perry's dress, well, it's going to be fabulous, of course. An insider told E!'s Ted Casablanca that "it's long and white, very traditional in that sense," but with a twist, of course. "The entire front is covered in beading. And there's a really...interesting head piece. I don't think most brides could pull it off, but most brides aren't Katy Perry."
The couple has said that they are determined to keep their wedding private, with no plans to sell photos to tabloids, so, as you can imagine, security for the event is iron-clad.
"They made guests not part of the wedding party, hotel staff included, vacate the premises," said a hotel source. "Just today, the local authorities announced that no cameraperson can come within one kilometer of the Taj."
According to E! News, the hotel is littered with police, security and additional special security from abroad, and they are not allowing anyone to loiter in the vicinity.
"The overseas security is fiercely guarding the fort and is showing no mercy to anyone, and the police are supporting them completely," a hotel spy said.
Perry Twittered her privacy plea as well: "TWIT BREAK: Greatest gift u can give us is respect & ♥ during this private X," she wrote on Tuesday. "No use wasting ur X w/ STOLEN or FALSE info. Thnku for this."
Here's hoping Katy and Russell's big day is everything they dreamed of. Congrats!
