If you believe Cyndi Lauper, girls just wanna have fun. But they should probably use a bit more discretion than Scout Willis. The 20-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore was arrested in New York City Monday evening after allegedly drinking a beer in public and then giving police a fake ID.
Willis, who is a student at Brown University and (yes) under the legal drinking age, was charged with two misdemeanors -- criminal impersonation and violation of the open-container law -- and released without bail Tuesday, the NY Daily News reports.
According to the criminal complaint, a transit cop spotted Willis drinking an 8-ounce "Pakistani beer" in the Union Square subway station shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. When the officer approached Willis, she reportedly gave him a New York ID card bearing the name "Katherine Kelly."
After further questioning, however, Willis came clean. "My name is Scout Willis," she told the cop when she produced her actual California ID, according to the criminal complaint. "The first ID isn't mine. My friend gave it to me. I don't know Katherine Kelly."
While Willis' lawyer Stacey Richman wouldn't provide the Daily News with details of the arrest, she did deny that Scout attempted to mislead the authorities regarding her identity.
"She was honest about who she was. She is a very proper, very impressive, smart young woman," Richman told the newspaper. "She presented her own ID... She did not know who the other person on the other ID is."
Willis is due back in Manhattan Criminal Court July 31.
