Courteney Cox and David Arquette's marriage may have been on the rocks while they were filming the upcoming Scream 4, but director Wes Craven says the two were completely professional on set. In fact, Craven says no one was aware the couple was about to split.
"We didn't have any idea that was going on," Craven told E! News at Spike TV's Scream Awards.
On the contrary, Craven says, getting the original cast back together "was a big lovefest. It's kind of embarrassing."
Because Cox and Arquette first met and fell in love on the set of the original Scream, those still involved in the movie franchise are taking their split kind of hard.
"It's very sad," Craven said. "I just about cried when I heard. It's a wrenching thing to happen to anybody that you love. I wish them both the best."
