They’re a mainstay in our wardrobes but most popular status jeans can really pinch our… ahem, budgets. I read recently that designer jeans run anywhere from $100 to $1,000 a pop. Considering most wardrobes include at least a half dozen pairs, that’s a major investment.
It’s fair to say the whole designer jeans craze is lost on me. In fact the idea of allocating that kind of cash to something as comfortable and constant as denim makes me laugh ‘til it hurts. Don’t get me wrong, I love my blue jeans and I’m always on the lookout for a pair that fits just right and look fantastic, but I wonder...
Does spending a small fortune on designer jeans actually make your butt look tighter or your muffin top disappear? Not likely. These days who regularly spends $150-$300 on a pair of jeans anyway? Not me. And in this economy, probably not you either.

Over the last three years I returned to plus sizes from a several year stint in smaller ones. I haven’t given up my love of jeans but I have adjusted my retailers. Current favorites are Lee jeans from Torrid and Right Fit jeans from Lane Bryant. Both handle my crazy curves brilliantly.
