Almost every Sex and the City fan I've spoken to has big plans for the day they plan to see Sex and the City: The Movie. One of my coworkers actually bought a dining room table so that all of her girlfriends could come over for dinner before the movie. My sister and I are getting lunch, manicures and pedicures, and then heading to the theater.
Need some ideas for what do for your Sex and the City event? Luckily I did some very exciting research today to help you out.
Remember the Sex and the City episode "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda"? (It's the one where Samantha tries to get a Birkin bag, uses Lucy Liu's name to get ahead of the waiting list, and then gets fired by Lucy, who also takes the "free" bag.)
Well today I headed over to the Fireside Restaurant in New York City because they're currently featuring a "Couture Cuisine Menu," inspired by the Hermes Birkin bag, Michael Tonello's new book "Bringing Home the Birkin" and of course Sex and the City.
Here's a rundown of this couture menu:
Breakfast: Bling Bling Benny
Crispy Poached Eggs, Smoked Sturgeon, Confetti Caviar, Roasted Asparagus Hollandaise
Lunch: OB's Kobe Burger
Sauteed Chanterelles, Summer Truffles, Shallots, Melted Brie
Dinner: Luxe A-5 Gold 5oz Japanese Kobe Sirloin
Served tableside with a scorching Himalayan Salt Brick
Hendrick's Gin, Orange, Ginger and Carrot Juice, Elderflower, Yuzu Juice & a Spritz of Absinthe
That menu will keep you going for a full day of Sex and the City. And it's definitely fit for royalty, which we know that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda, and you, are. Plus it's a ton of fun, as you actually get to cook the kobe beef yourself at the table. Deeeelicious.
If you're in NYC, be sure to stop by Fireside and try it out. As Chef Sam DeMarco said, the menu is full of "things you cannot put into a Birkin Bag, but when you have one, is what you want to eat."
If you aren't in NYC, use the menu as inspiration. Or check out our Food channel for some other recipe ideas.
