Even celebrities can have strange mishaps on their vacations. Shakira posted a report on her Facebook page that reveals how she was attacked by a sea lion while on a nature tour in Cape Town, South Africa on Sunday.
When the Colombian singer got too close for a photo, the adorable sea creature got scared and lunged at her -- until her brother came to the rescue.
"Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me," she wrote. "I was paralyzed by fear and couldn't move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother 'Super Tony' jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast."
The episode left Shakira, 34, and Tony with a few wounds: "We both got our hands and legs scratched by the rocks while trying to protect ourselves."
Although she was shaken by the unexpected turn in her vacation, Shakira continued on with her next stop on the tour.
"Today with the penguins! Definitely friendlier!" the singer posted later that day with a picture of her sitting in front a few of her friendlier animal pals.
