Hedge Clippers, Rock or Scissors?

For the fourth installment, the 8 remaining stylists were introduced to Allure Editor in Chief Linda Wells, who informed them they had 1.5 hours to give their hair models a cut that had one look by day and another look by night that the clients would then have to transition by herself in five minutes. Still on a high from last week's win, Evangelin stuck with her hedge clippers as her chopping tool. Dr. Boogie got carried away his razor and turned his model's long red hair into a near buzz cut. While checking on the competitors' progress, Linda told the doc, "You are going to be the first person in the world to make the mullet attractive."

Once the short cut challenge time expired, Linda asked the models how they felt about their cut. Shockingly, Boogie's girl said she liked her very short 'do. Maybe she hadn't looked in a mirror quite yet. Linda noted it was "a little punky verging on ugly." Then the clock was set to 5 minutes for the models to change their hair to the night look. Danna won the challenge, then the gang had the rest of the day to relax at a spa.

But an easy-going time was not had by all. Tabatha and Evangelin went at it, mainly because Tabs can't believe she's still using the huge scissors. "Your passions for it is un-F---ing believable. It's time for you to be a real, grown-up hair dresser," snapped the ice queen. When the argument was brought up to Rene and Linda the following day, Evangelin defended her hedge clippers by noting that "it's all about evolution" and that people aren't still cutting hair with rocks. Uh... even the Flinstones had scissors!

The elimination challenge was for the stylists to create a red carpet hairstyle for Vanessa Williams. After choosing their models, the competitors got to work. It was the first time Ben worked on African-American hair, which is surprising. Tabatha's model asked for scoop on the other hairdressers, so she spilled. Rene told Evangelin she can't cut clients' hair with her big chops anymore. She was in disbelief and explained her updo was inspired by Vanessa's old pageant days. Dr. Boogie told Rene he's a red carpet guru. "I guarantee I'll get you more red carpet press than what you've been getting," he said. Evangelin described her competition as "horses with blinders on" because they didn't understand her creative styles.

Vanessa joined Sally, Linda and Jaclyn to judge during the runway portion of the show. The winner was solely Vanessa's choice. "Curly hair and straight hair are like enemies, but when they are put together the right way, they are absolutely beautiful," Evangelin said about her unique design. The judges asked the stylists about their creations. "It looks heavy and like the end of a long prom night," Vanessa said about Ben's style. The judges shared their opinions with each other, then asked Daisy, Ben, Evangelin and Danna to step forward. "You are the top two and the bottom two," announced Jaclyn. The others were safe. Vanessa named Danna the winner. She's on a roll! Daisy was then saved from eliminated, which left Ben and crazy Evangelin as the twosome on the bottom. At this point, Evangelin is entertainment and I don't want her to go. But she got cut. She weeped, but was excited to go home to her family. Needless to say, Tabatha was excited, too. Now we're down to the lucky 7.
Until the next trim....
