Shear Genius Recap: May 23

Who's Left? We're down to the final four, with crazy Dr. Boogie, Ben and last week's winners, Daisy and Anthony. But who will provide the drama now that Tabatha and Tyson are out of the mix? Read the recap and find out!

The Short Cut Challenge
This week's guest judge for the first portion of the show is celebrity hair stylist Kiyah Wright, who has worked on the likes of Tyra Banks and Gabrielle Union. For their short-cut challenge the remaing stylists must straighten, cut and style African American hair.

Ben basically freaks out at first, clearly not feeling comfortable working with the texture of African American hair, but his model opts to not go for a relaxer. In fact, Dr. Boogie was the only who went for a chemical relaxer, comparing his client's hair to steel wool.

The Short-Cut Winner
Kiyah declared Anthony the winner because she liked the way he consulted with his client and also thought the end-style result was youthful and bouncy. Now, on to the elimination challenge!

Celebrity photograther Matthew Rolston was chosen as the guest judge for the elimination round. He explained the four hair looks he likes the models in his photographs to have:

Sex Kitten -- wet hair
Diva Star -- hair lighter than air
Retro-Glamour Girl -- horizontal hair
Rebel Rocker -- vertical hair

Because Anthony won the short-cut challenge, he had first pick of the four looks to creat. But the real twist was that he got to assign the other three looks to his competition. For himself, he chose the Retro-Glamour Girl. Daisy got Sex Kitten; Dr. Boogie was assigned Diva Star; and Ben was psyched about his Rebel Rocker assignment.

Matthew gives the stylists three hours to master their professional photo shoot looks, but they also have to share that time with makeup and wardrobe teams.

During their worktime, Dr. Boogie was in his element, having worked on many photoshoots in the past. Ben got stressed while trying to make his model's hair stand straight up.

The Photo Shoot
Using what seemed like gallons of water, Daisy created the ultimate Sex Kitten look, and the judges found a shot they seemed to like.

Anthony thought Matthew was a bit anal retentive during the shoot because he asked him to cover the model's hair line with additional hair to hide her root color regrowth.

Dr. Boogie's hair looked great, but he kept "stepping in," and it was like he was controlling the photo shoot. I lost count of how many times many times he "stepped in" after the seventh or eigth time.

Ben's photo shoot was last. Matthew didn't think Ben's model's hair was vertical enough. After a bottle or so of hairspray, both Matthew and Ben were feeling the rebel rocker look, and even the judges dug it.

The Elimination
The judges thought Anthony should have foreseen his model's root problem early on and fixed it before they got on set. They thought Daisy's wet hair was sexy without being messy and were surprisingly happy with Ben's last-minute look. Despite his experience, Dr. Boogie failed to earn the acclaim of the judges for his style (they thought it was too heavy) or the photographer (he thought Dr. Boogie didn't incorporate the team).

In the end, Daisy won the challenge, and Dr. Boogie was sent home. Aww, I liked Boogie. He reminded me of Jay, the winner of the first season of Project Runway.

So, we're looking a finale showdown with Daisy, Ben and Anthony. Who are you rooting for?
