Look out, Jules -- there's a new cougar in town! We learned this weekend that Sheryl Crow will play a recurring role on ABC's Cougar Town... as Grayson's new girlfriend!
The 47-year-old singer, who led an acoustic trio with Keith Urban and Kid Rock at the Hope for Haiti Now telethon last month, will appear in multiple episodes of the sitcom, according to EW.com. Although she'll be playing Courteney Cox's romantic rival (that's right, Crow will not be playing herself, as she did during her last sitcom gig: the "Kidney Now!" episode of 30 Rock), the two stars are close friends in real life; they both joined Jennifer Aniston this weekend on her 41st birthday getaway to Mexico.
So how will the introduction of Crow's character affect things on Cougar Town? Fans have been waiting to find out if Cox's character, Jules, will hook up with misanthropic neighbor Grayson (Josh Hopkins). According to Hopkins, that love-hate relationship will be heating up on the Valentine's Day episode this Wednesday: “There’s this clichéd expectation with such relationships, but the creators want to keep this tension, this attraction, and they want to do it in a more true-to-life way. In that regard, it’ll be realistic, so it’s going to be a bit of a bumpy ride.”
