Sheryl Crow Opens Breast Cancer Center

The songstress has opened a state of the art breast imaging center to help women with early detection of the disease

Sheryl Crow is doing everything she can to help women fight breast cancer. On Tuesday, The Sheryl Crow Imaging Center in Los Angeles, Calif., "a state of the art breast imaging center featuring the latest advancements in digital screening and diagnostic imaging technologies," opened its doors for the very first time.

The brand-new facility is part of the Pink Lotus Breast Center, the country's first complex dedicated exclusively to the prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Heading up the center is Dr. Kristi Funk, who treated Crow, 48, in 2006, after the singer was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram.

"Joining forces with the Pink Lotus Breast Center has provided me with a wonderful platform to create awareness and encourage the millions of American women over 40 to get their annual mammogram," Crow said in a statement.

"Detecting breast cancer early is a woman's best chance at survival, and digital full-field mammography is the gold standard of early detection," the singer added.

In addition to mammograms, the center offers a comprehensive battery of medical services related to the breast, including clinical breast exams, diagnostic biopsies, genetic testing, surgery, radiation, nutrition and Chinese medicine.

Today, Crow is cancer-free and is the proud single mom of two adopted boys, Wyatt, 3, and Levi, almost 4 months.
