Should a brother and sister share a room?
Should a six year old sister and her two year old brother share a bedroom?Question:
It is fine for a six-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy to share a room -- it just can't go on forever.
As children hit adolescence, they need privacy. And adolescence is starting earlier these days. Many kids of ten are developing the characteristics that we saw in 13 year olds just a generation earlier.
Even children in their middle years (ages eight to ten) may prefer privacy. They need a place to be with their friends, and they don't want a little brother OR sister hanging around.
I would consider putting the kids in different rooms by the time your daughter is eight if this is at all possible. Certainly, it needs to be before adolescence -- the era of raging hormones!Answer:
