'The Borgias,' Great Room

Now in its third year, the Showtime House turns television programs into three-dimensional spaces. Some of today’s top designers and architects created rooms inspired by shows including Californication, Dexter, and Nurse Jackie. The designers let loose in three penthouses in Manhattan’s Cassa Hotel and Residences.

This grand room, designed for the new show The Borgias, alludes to the Renaissance period while still feeling utterly contemporary. Designer Keith Baltimore wasn’t satisfied with the straight lines of the living space, so he added elaborate moldings and archways from Roma Moulding worthy of the infamous Italian Renaissance family. A wingback chair is reminiscent of a throne, and the cross-shaped carpet alludes to the family’s ties to the Catholic Church.
