Carve a Face

Use a toothpick to trace a face onto the peeled apple, and then carve out the facial features with a spoon. Make all your cuts deep and large as they will shrink when the apple is dry.

The nose is the most important feature, so start there first and make it prominent, then move on to the rest of the face. Dig the handle of the spoon into the apple to make eye sockets, and use the side of the spoon to create the curves for the mouth.
