“Cramping is really common” early in pregnancy, says Marjorie Greenfield, M.D., OB/GYN and author of The Working Woman’s Pregnancy Book. “Lots of people have cramping, and cramping without bleeding is nothing to worry about.” If you are pregnant, the cramping that might make you think your period is coming is actually the embryo implanting into the uterus. It usually only lasts a day, so if PMS usually has you aching for a few days but this episode was shorter, pregnancy could be the culprit.
