Sigourney Weaver on 'Avatar' and Just Being Mom

Sigourney Weaver says her 19-year-old daughter Charlotte doesn't aspire to be an actress like her mom, and hasn't even seen most of her movies. "I think she prefers to think of me as good old Mom, and I think that's probably healthy," the 60-year-old actress told iVillage.

However, Charlotte will be seeing Avatar, which hits theaters on Dec. 18, along with Weaver's husband of 25 years, Jim Simpson. "It will be interesting to share this film with my husband and daughter. They don't know much about it, it's just been something Mom's been doing for awhile," Weaver said.

The film, from Titanic director James Cameron, has already been nominated for four Golden Globes. In the science fiction epic (hyped for its groundbreaking filmmaking technology), Weaver plays botanist Grace Augustine and hopes the issues in Avatar will encourage discussions "about how to safeguard our own wilderness and respect our own species."

Watch our exclusive video with the Oscar nominee to find out how she's living out a childhood fantasy, why her daughter will actually watch Avatar, and whether she's reached the one goal she's set for herself.
