Simon Cowell got quite a scare on Saturday night when he came face to face with a woman who had broken into his west London home with a brick.
According to Reuters, the 52-year-old X Factor judge found the woman, who has been identified as 29-year-old Leanne Zaloumis, hiding in a walk-in closet armed with a brick, likely the same one she used to break the window of the upstairs bathroom to get into the house. Cowell's on-site security team then subdued the trespasser, who was later detained by police. Blood marks were reportedly found on the bathroom floor, although it is unclear how they got there.
Zaloumis, who is thought to be an overzealous fan, appeared in court Monday and was charged with trespassing and intending to "inflict grievous bodily harm upon a person therein." She is to reappear in court on June 12.
Cowell's representative Max Clifford told the U.K.'s Sun newspaper that his client was watching TV when he heard a loud bang. Cowell then ran upstairs to investigate.
"It came from the bathroom, so he went in -- and there was a woman standing there holding a brick," Clifford told The Sun. "She had smashed her way in through the window and it was unclear how long she had been there or what she was doing."
He added: "It was a very frightening experience for Simon, who told me it was like something from a horror movie. He was just very lucky that all she had was a brick. She could have had a knife, a gun or any other weapon."
