Has American Idol's toughest judge turned into a softie? Conflicting reports today have many wondering whether or not Simon Cowell is, in fact, engaged to his girlfriend, make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy.
Perez Hilton has Cowell's publicist Max Clifford stating that the reality judge/curmudgeon and his girlfriend are not set to wed any time soon: "Yes, they're happy. But they're not engaged. That's straight from Simon's mouth."
But, what about that ring? Hussainy, 36, was spotted sporting a rather large diamond ring on Valentine's Day (the LA Times blog also reports that people actually witnessed the engagement happen.) Cowell, 50, recently sat down with fellow reality judge, Piers Morgan for his show Life Stories, and admitted, "I'm smitten with Mezhgan – I think she’s the one. She’s very special."
Cowell, who once called marriage an "outdated contract," has never walked down the aisle, while Hussainy has one previous marriage. If Cowell is engaged, it would be the second biggest news from him in 2010, as he confirmed just a few weeks ago that this would be his last season on American Idol in order to executive produce and star on another reality competition, The X Factor.
