It's pretty unusual to hear something nice come out of Simon Cowell's mouth -- but it looks like love has changed all of that. In a rare interview with his pal Piers Morgan, the American Idol judge opens up his feelings for new fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy, and admits that he is totally "smitten" with the makeup artist.
"You confuse lust with love, you know, when you're in your teens and stuff like that," Cowell, 50, says in the interview scheduled to air Saturday on Piers Morgan's Life Stories: Simon Cowell in the U.K. "It's a difficult thing to describe other than you know it when you are."
Trying to find the right words, he continues, "You just know when you've found somebody special and I feel very, very happy."
Cowell, who will be saying goodbye to Idol at the end of this season, says that children may even be in his future.
"I think I possibly need to have a few more Simons around," he joked. "The thing about kids, it's like marriage, you know you have to believe you're in something that you're in for the long term – a hundred percent."
And long term seems to be the path for Cowell and Hussainy, as the Brit continued to gush, "You've got to really, really like somebody because there's a thin line between love and hate," he says. "As long as you can retain that chemistry as well then it [is] the most incredible feeling."
