The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton may have been the most talked-about nuptials of the year, but sister-of-the-bride Pippa Middleton almost stole the show with her willowy figure, winning smile and tan skin. As a matter of fact, 27-year-old Pippa has since become even more popular than her royal sis, and former American Idol judge Simon Cowell (soon taking his acerbic musical critiques to The X Factor) is convinced the young Ms. Middleton has what it takes to be a TV superstar.
"I haven't heard her sing," Cowell, 51, tells Life & Style magazine of Pippa. "But if she walked in and said, 'I want to be a TV star,' I would sign her on the spot."
Pippa's smiling face has already graced magazine covers, including last August's issue of Tatler, her first solo cover. Tatler had already been following her with interest for some time, and journalist Annabel Rivkin wrote, "While Kate and William bounce off to Wales, where he can be a helicopter rescue pilot and she can be a housewife, Pippa... has gone global."
She has indeed. There is a Facebook page devoted entirely to appreciating her shapely derriere.
Last week, TLC got on the bandwagon, debuting Crazy About Pippa, a show devoted to Middleton's life as one of England's most popular and recognized bachelorettes. While it remains to be seen whether or not Pippa's media fame will translate into anything more substantial, the current obsession with "Her Royal Hotness" (as she's been nicknamed) continues. The U.K. paparazzi attention has been intense, and hopefully Pippa can withstand the onslaught with her characteristic grace and charm.
Even pop/R&B star Usher has taken notice, and wants her to be the model for his upcoming lingerie line. Usher was quoted as saying, "I don't think there's a more beautiful, more stunning, more talked-about woman in the world at the moment."
Simon Cowell, who is gearing up for the premiere of The X Factor in September, elaborates on Pippa's immense popularity. "She has the X factor," he says. "To overshadow your sister when she's the one getting married? That was impressive."
