As season 9 of Fox's American Idol comes to an end Wednesday, one of television's most infamous personalities will make his final appearance on the show.
Host Ryan Seacrest revealed that there will be many surprise guests to say goodbye to Simon Cowell -- including former judge Paula Abdul -- but we have to ask: Will the end of Cowell's reign spell the end of Idol itself?
Simon told Oprah that the new Idol judge will have to be someone who "knows what they're talking about," perhaps alluding to new judge Ellen DeGeneres' often-questioned music industry experience.
