Sinead O'Connor: My 18-Day Marriage "Felt Like I Was Living in a Coffin"

According to the singer, her mad hunt for drugs on their wedding night spooked her new husband -- a drug counselor

Sinead O'Connor is being quite candid about the reasons she ended her marriage after only 18 days.

The Grammy-winning singer, 45, announced her decision to split from fourth husband, drugs counselor Barry Herridge, on Dec. 26, just 18 days after marrying in a planned Las Vegas wedding at a drive-through chapel.

The marriage, she explains, got off to a dangerous start when she spent their wedding day looking for somewhere to buy drugs.

"We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous," O'Connor is quoted in Britain's Sun tabloid. "I wasn't scared -- but he's a drugs counselor. What was I thinking?"

She continues: "Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened -- that kind of messed everything up a bit, really."

O'Connor's behavior made her feel that their life together wasn't healthy for Herridge, 38, whom she admits she still loves.

"It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us, and I saw him crushed," she says. "The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man."

And now that they've parted ways, O'Connor claims she plans to stay single. "I don't think I will even date anyone," she says.

With all of the information she's dished up about that fateful night, we're sure there's more to come!
