Sinus Congestion: Common During Pregnancy?
I have always had trouble with my sinuses, but since I've been pregnant I have had severe congestion. Is sinus congestion common during pregnancy?Question:
Yes, congestion is one of the common symptoms of pregnancy. Not that it makes it any easier to bear, but it is very normal. Some believe it to be due to the effects of progesterone, which makes the membranes softer and more vascular. Sinus congestion often lessens as pregnancy progresses. Humidity and steam are the best treatments.
Sudafed is no longer recommended for use during the first trimester, but it is fine to use in the second and third.
