With a 50-minute commute to work, a 40-hour work week and the responsibilities that come with being a wife and mother of two, Emily Siegrist Young says fitting in fitness is really hard, but so worth it. “My alarm goes off at 4:45 a.m. each (weekday) morning and I'm working out by 5 a.m.,” says Young, who lost 25 pounds three years ago. She does her strength training at home in the mornings with workout DVDs,  sweating for 45 minutes before getting herself and her family ready and out the door. But her exercise routine doesn’t stop there: Since her office building offers kickboxing at lunch, and is near a lake with an “awesome hike and bike trail,” Young makes a point of squeezing in at least one class a week, and one three-mile run/walk. On the days her kids have sports practice, Young uses that time to walk three miles with another mom. “Yes, I'd like to sleep in or just sit around and talk with friends during lunch or practice, but exercise is important to me. It gives me energy and helps me keep my stress levels low.”

Make It Work For You: Schedule a morning workout at least 30 minutes before the rest of your day begins; try an at-home routine that requires little to no prep or set up (we love this equipment-free 30 minute routine). Look for other opportunities to move throughout the day, like taking walks with coworkers.
