As many as 67 percent of Americans skip breakfast on a regular basis because they feel too time-crunched to sit and have a meal, according to a recent study from the American Breakfast Council. But numerous studies show that women who eat in the morning lose more weight than those who skip it. “Eating in the morning revs up your metabolism and also fills you up so you don’t overeat later in the day,” explains American Dietetic Association spokesperson Dawn Jackson Blatner. That’s where weight loss shakes like Slim-Fast get it right. For mornings where you barely have time to brush your teeth, “having a meal replacement shake is a good low-calorie option,” she says. “A liquid meal isn’t as satisfying as real food, but it’s better than not eating and ending up so hungry at lunch that you overeat.”
