Bathroom before & after

Working with two lifeless pedestal sinks and absolutely no charm at all, decorator Joetta Moulden warms this small bathroom with a classic feel.

This bathroom had been "modernized" by a previous owner. The room was stripped of its wood moldings, fixtures and built-in storage; mainly, it was stripped of its charm. The previous owners installed chilly, pure white sheet-rocked walls, bare-bulb lighting centered over new chrome medicine cabinets and harshly contemporary pedestal sinks that provided little space to place even a can of shaving cream or razor. The sinks' chrome faucet sets had hospital-style handles, and severe wire shelving held daily essentials for all to see. Luckily, though, the previous owners left the beautiful paneled door and the original claw-foot tub in place. The new owners were looking to create a more friendly and soothing space. Here's how we achieved their dream bathroom.
