Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is great and all, but what could make the viewing experience more… pungent? Ah, yes! Being able to sniff along with the action!
Someone at TLC has actually decided that what Here Comes Honey Boo Boo really needs is a "Watch 'n Sniff" event. So that's just what viewers will get with Alana Thompson and her earthy family return for the second season premiere on July 17 at 9 p.m.
According to the press release, here's how the show will "treat viewers’ senses":
"With a numbered scent card that correlates to scenes in the double-stacked premiere episodes, viewers will be able to watch the show, scratch their cards and redneckognize the aromas associated with the Boo Boo gang."
These cards will be distributed as inserts in People and Us Weekly (hitting newsstands on July 5 and 12, respectively). And no, the release doesn't include which smells we'll be "treated" to. Guessing is part of the fun!
So... what exactly are the "aromas associated with the Boo Boo gang"?
The Thompson family has shared their home with some odiferous pets, like Glitzy the pig and Nugget the chicken. And...
Meanwhile, Mama June presumably emits her own special odor, since...
Plus, Alana's big sister weight-loss method no doubt has some smelly side effects. Remember this?
And naturally, the Thompson family always enjoys a good game of "Guess Who's Breath?"
Like most things Honey Boo Boo, this publicity stunt smells like exploitation. On the other hand, the family is obviously OK with it. As the dollars roll in, everything's coming up roses for Alana!
