Sneak Peek: Madonna's Material Girl Collection at Macy's

About the collection, the mom-and-daughter collaboration, and dressing Lourdes

From Gwen Stefani to Beyonce, celebrities are designing fashion lines left and right these days. Although we love the platforms in Gwen's L.A.M.B. and the cute rompers in Beyonce's House of Dereon, the star lines are getting a bit much, no? Are these celebrities passionate about fashion or are they just hawking their names?

Just when we thought there were enough star collections out there -- Lauren Conrad, Avril Lavigne, Tori Spelling... we're having trouble just keeping up -- our ears have perked up again. This time, for Madonna!

The style icon collaborated with her trendsetting 13-year-old daughter Lourdes on the upcoming "Material Girl" collection of clothing, footwear, handbags and jewelry for teens exclusively at Macy's, which will hit stores and Macys.com on August 3. (I'm no longer a teen, but maybe I can snag some pieces to fun up my wardrobe.) Pieces in the new line will set parents (and hip adults) back $12 to $40 -- so it's totally affordable!

The best part is, there are no cone-shaped bras or sexy bustiers in the line. Instead, we'll see cute plaid jackets and shirts, lovely floral tulip skirts and edgy vests -- they're things her daughter would wear. This is not the "Material Girl" style we saw in the '80s (remember Madonna in lace and leather?). Although the mom is inspired by her daughter's funky style, she also admits to toning down Lourdes' attire for school. Check out the video:
