We've seen Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi get punched in a bar fight and jump in a hot tub in her underwear -- but we never thought we'd see her talking tax policies with Meghan McCain. The popular columnist and daughter of Sen. John McCain had a few questions for Snooki, which she raised in a new Daily Beast interview with the pint-sized reality star. And so America now knows the answer to the question that's been keeping us up nights: Who did Snooki vote for in 2008?
"To be honest with you, I’m not really a Republican or a Democrat," Snooki, 22, told McCain, 25. "I actually signed up as an Independent, just because I don’t want to pick any side and also I don’t really know a lot about politics. I only know politics about, like, you know, tanning and being a Guidette."
Since there wasn't a Guidette party in the last Presidential election, Snooki went with the next best thing: the Republicans. "To be honest with you, the only reason why I voted for your father was because he was really cute and I liked when he did his speeches," she admitted. (Meghan's response: "I appreciate that, though it's a little weird.")
For all his qualities, "really cute" isn't the first phrase we'd use to describe 73-year-old McCain. But then, maybe Snooki had been looking at those pictures of McCain as a young Navy officer.
During the interview, Snooki also attempted to clarify her objections to Obama's tanning-booth tax. "I really don’t see the reason why there would be a tax on tanning, because so many people go tanning even though they’re not, like, Guido/Guidettes," she explained. "People go tanning because they like to feel tan. You feel more sexy when you’re tan and I don’t understand why you would tax on that, because you’re making yourself feel more happy about yourself." (Has anybody told her about the tax on alcohol?)
We know we shouldn't care what the Jersey Shore stars have to say about politics. But we love that Snooki and her friends are so unconcerned with saying the "right" thing at any given time. That makes them the opposite of politicans -- and even if it's not exactly intelligent discourse, it's still oddly refreshing.
