So, How Was Your Mother's Day?

I have to admit: Mother's Day didn't start out like I had planned. There was no sleeping in, for instance. (Why, on this day devoted to me, did I pop out of bed, wide-awake, when my son woke up? Oh yeah -- habit.)

But between the homemade gifts that my 4-year-old made me -- he was so excited about them he actually insisted I open them on Saturday -- and the luxurious, hour-long nap I took in the middle of the afternoon, it turned out to be a pretty darn good day. Surrounded by my family, feeling loved and pampered and not tired? For this mom, it doesn't get much better than that.
