Solange Knowles Accuses Katy Perry of Corrupting Kids

Likening the singer's "California Gurls" video to "like kiddie porn," Beyonce's younger sis rants on Twitter

Solange Knowles has a big problem with Katy Perry -- and it's not that "California Gurls" has been stuck in her head since May. On her Twitter, Beyonce's younger sister, 24, accused Perry, 25, of trying to sell her sexy image to kids. Apparently, Knowles's 6-year-old son Daniel Julez Smith, Jr. is a fan -- and the singer is not happy about it.

"Seriously, I (d)on't like the fact dat Julez thinks he gotta sneak (and) watched "California Gurls" on (You)Tube," Solange tweeted on Wednesday. "Katy Perry is polluting the chirrens."

Solange then referred to the video -- in which Perry wanders through a Candyland-like world and shoots frosting from her bra -- as "like kiddie porn," with "all them damn colors, candy... and then daisy dukes, breast shooting cream."

Okay, yes, the "California Gurls" video isn't ideal viewing for a 6-year-old. But calling Katy Perry a child pornographer is a tad extreme, don't you think? Her video, with its nostalgic imagery and double entendres, is obviously aimed at adults. Perry certainly enjoys walking the line between innocent and sexy, but that's a time-honored trick used by everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Madonna. At the end of the day, the video doesn't contain violence, drug use, or even swearing. It's all in good (and basically clean) fun. Isn't it?

Solange also complained about Perry's duet with Elmo, which was pulled from the new season of Sesame Street after parents complained about Perry's cleavage. (Watch it below.)

Perry, who is on tour right now, hasn't responded to Solange's accusations. Sounds like Knowles is taking a little heat from Perry's fans, though. On Thursday, Solange tweeted this message at the haters:

"These angry tweets by 'fans' of other folk just tinkle (sic) me pink. I wouldn't even have done that in my nasty nas obsessed daze. And I was 12! But most of em are probably 12," she posted. "Or I hope so."
