The Soshi Games Tumblr is Like the Best Winter Olympics Meme, Ever

We will never be bored as long as we have the Soshi Games

Ashley Wagner’s look of disgust spawned the first meme of the Sochi games. But the ice skater’s fed-up face has got nothing on our favorite meme of the Winter Olympics -- the Shoshi Games 2014. Inspired by the deep thoughts of the HBO Girls character Shoshanna Shapiro, the Shoshi Games Tumblr has us addicted.

In a gold medal mashup of the Winter Olympics and the hit HBO show, the Tumblr drops hilarious mugs of Shosh getting in on everything from luging and figure skating to bobsledding and curling. A focused Shosh asks “How do you say OMG in cyrillic?" while ski jumping. “This doesn’t look like Jamaica,” a freaked out Shosh in a bobsled laments.

The brain child of New Yorkers Limor Zisbrod, a designer, Jillian Anderson, an art director, and Kathy Henken, a writer, the Tumblr was inspired by Limor, who is sort of a real-life Shosh. “Kathy and I call Limor our ‘little Shosh’ because she reminds us of the Girls’ character – a 20-something Jewish girl, raised in New York City,” Anderson told iVillage. They quickly realized Shosh sounded a lot like Sochi and the genius meme was born. “We were excited when random people we work with discovered it,” Henken said. “Their reactions made us pee ourselves.”

And then there was the reaction from Girls creator Lena Dunham and the folks at HBO. Dunham called it “magic” on Twitter and the official GIRLs Twitter handle tipped its bandanas (a reference to Shosh’s “insane array of bandanas” on the show) to Zisbrod, Anderson and Henken.

Asked what Shosh would say about the, like, totally amazing success of this Tumblr right now, the girls replied: “Good thing I’ve been vaccinated, because I’m so viral right now.”
