'Soul Food'

This 1997 dramedy featured the three bickering daughters of soul-food cooking mother Jo (Irma P. Hall). There's Terry (Vanessa Williams), Maxine (Vivica A. Fox) and little sister (and a bride-to-be), Bird, played by Nia Long. Despite their differences, these strong-willed daughters have to unite and step into the matriarch's big shoes when their mom ends up in the hospital after 40 years of high-cholesterol meals.
