While we're all waiting to hear who the new panel of American Idol judges will include, one thing is for sure: Kara DioGuardi will not be one of them. Last month it was rumored that the songwriter was fired from the FOX show, as they attempted to restructure the talent competition, but now a source tells E!Online.com that DioGuardi was the one who wanted to bail.
"She went to Fox two months ago and told them she didn't want to do another season," the insider said. "She's ready to move on. She did two years and thinks that's enough."
As of now, DioGuardi still hasn't heard anything from American Idol producers about whether or not she should be reporting for work when the show returns for the upcoming season. (They told her they'd "get back to her.") But if they want her, it looks like she'll have to oblige since she's still under contract.
In the meantime, DioGuardi's career is in limbo. "It's frustrating because she can't even take any meetings...everyone wants to know what her schedule will be like, but she doesn't know," the source said. "What happens if FOX tells her they still want her for next season?"
Reps for both DioGuardi and FOX declined to comment.
