Dressing her body shape
Corine's wardrobe consisted essentially of unshaped dresses and sweaters and the dominant colors were neutrals like black, brown and grey. She was pretty much hiding behind her clothes because she was not sure about how to address some fit and style issues.
"My hips are too large and I wear large clothes to hide them. Besides, I gained some weight recently." Truth is bulky dresses tend to hide her small waist and make her look un-shapely. She learned how to choose bottoms in darker colors and identify cuts that would camouflage her hips - slight A-line skirt, wide leg trousers.
The two dresses represent exactly what our sparkling brunette was doing to hide her body because she was afraid of other people's judgment. She learned that it is all about proportion and that over sized clothes were not doing her justice, bien au contraire.
Professional yet fun
She had difficulties translating her sparkling personality into a professional wardrobe, thinking that she could not have fun with it and keep it work appropriate. She ended up having some interesting pieces but lacking of basics and not knowing how to mix AND match what she had.
First we bought some basics to build the foundation of her new wardrobe. Then, we worked on adding her personal touch with interesting details and colors as well as accessories. Thanks to the rules that apply to her color, shape and lifestyle, Corine is now able to refresh her wardrobe with stylish and effective pieces that enhance her best features and complement her wardrobe!
Some hidden treasures
Corine had this perfect forest green jacket (right color, great cut) in her wardrobe. We explored different ways of maximizing this versatile and flattering piece. First, we paired the jacket with a white turtleneck and black shorts. A turquoise bohemian inspired necklace and black suede pumps brought the final touch to this outfit. We made another outfit with the same jacket pairing it with a crme camisole and black skinny jeans. We accessorized the outfit with a necklace and some amazing snake skin pumps. She had those shoes in her closet for a while but did not know how to wear them.
''I definitely realized that my usual clothes had no shaped and made me look heavier. During the shopping experience, I learned how to dress professionally while adding some spice with accessories and I bought some pieces I would never have tried before. The most challenging part was to get rid of my old habits and pick the right sizes instead of larger sizes. Overall, having a style consultant helped me understand my body and what suits me best. Since then, I have been receiving a lot of compliments and I realized that professional does not mean boring. I just feel better about myself."
