Is 'Spice Idol' in the Works?

Move over, Simon Cowell.

The Spice Girls are planning an American Idol-esque show of their own. And they have the mastermind of the singing competition in their corner — former manager Simon Fuller, creator of American Idol, is helping with the idea.

Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown and Geri Halliwell would all sit on the panel and serve as judges.

According to a source at the UK's The Sun newspaper, "This is an idea which appeals to all of the original members. It's a fantastic new way to broaden out the Spice franchise and cash in on their personalities, their story and their songs. The girls would have to work intensely on a TV show for a short period of time.”

There has been speculation about a reunion tour by the Spice Girls in recent weeks but a television show that would probably be a smash hit in the U.K. might be a better option for the group.

The one member of the group that has been keeping busy on this side of the pond is Victoria, who not only will serve as a guest judge on American Idol this season, but also filmed a cameo this week in New York City for the CW drama, Gossip Girl. Would she be able to fit another show on into her busy schedule?
