Sponge-Mitt Painting

Nancy Blakey: This is finger painting for the fastidious! Provide a long sheet of butcher paper, and turn your budding Picasso loose!

What You Will Need:

Sponge mitt (available at the grocery store in the rubber-glove section)
Several colors of tempera paint
Butcher paper

Lay out a long piece of butcher paper. Pour the paint into saucers. Place the sponge mitt on your child's hand. Let him dip the mitt into the tempera. and paint away! Suggest that he experiment with placing several different colors of paint on different parts of the sponge mitt and then roll the mitt around the paper.
