Aaah....Spring is here. Finally! So it’s no wonder that we’re thinking about baby names inspired by the season.
Flower names. Spring's unofficial mascot is the flower and "there’s a big trend in flower names this year," says Lesley Bolton, author of The Complete Book of Baby Names. "However, favor is moving away from old standbys such as Rose and Daisy and toward the more exotic Zinnia and Dahlia."
Spring colors. Alternaively, we love the idea of being inspired by anything the color of spring: Emerald, Chloe (means “young green shoot”), or Jade. We also like Violet, a name chosen by Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and Lily-Rose, name of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis’ daughter.
Spring months. "April" might not be fresh, but how about May or Mae? (Former Bachelorette star Jen Scheft named her daughter Mae). Lots of moms are using these for middle names.
The season itself. Consider how beautiful the word "Spring" is in other languages: Caroun (Armenian, for girls), Primavera (Italian, for girls), Vasant (Sanskrit, for boys), Haruki (Japanese, for boys).
No matter what you choose, the scents, colors and sunshine are all so inspirational! Perhaps you pick a name inspired by your favorite spring vacation spot! (Siena, anyone?)
