Stained Glass

Make a glowing stained glass cookie with your favorite sugar cookie recipe and some clear hard candy, such as Jolly Ranchers. Unwrap the candies and put each color you want to use in a sandwich bag. Use the bottom of a mug to bash the candies into a fine powder.

Cut rolled cookie dough in any shape you like and transfer the cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment or lightly greased foil (not waxed paper, which will stick). Then, use the tip of a paring knife to cut out and remove a "window" from the center of the cookie. With the tip of a spoon, fill this space generously with crushed candy powder, taking care to keep it off the surface of the dough. Bake according to recipe directions and cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, until the candy is firm.
