From songstress Barbara Streisand to Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, the guest list for the State Dinner honoring Chinese President Hu Jintao, was a potpourri of greats. And when it came to style, there were three who stood out: Vera Wang, Michelle Obama and Anna Wintour. So who were they wearing?

Soft and Sweet
"Vera Wang walked into the hall as reporters gasped: 'Wow!'" reports Time magazine. Who's she wearing, they asked. "I'll let you guys guess," she responded. Maybe she's wearing one of her own creations?

Lovely in Red
Michelle Obama wore a red Alexander McQueen gown -- very fitting for the occasion as the hue symbolizes good things in Chinese culture like success, happiness and good luck. The off-one-shoulder silk organza number, a reincarnation of a dress in the design house's Resort 2011 collection, was created by Alexander McQueen's successor, Sarah Burton. The first lady accessorized with ruby and geode earrings in 18k yellow gold from Kimberly McDonald, a New York based jewelry designer.

Knee-Length Chic
As for Anna Wintour, we don't expect anything less from the American Vogue editor. She dazzled in a patterned, knee-length dress with a matching cropped jacket. Even in a sea of long, elegant gowns, Wintour impressed in Chanel.
