Many questions remain about the effects of epilepsy and anti-epileptic drugs on pregnancy. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant and take anti-epileptic drugs, you can help. Consider talking to your doctor about joining a pregnancy registry.

The purpose of anti-epileptic drug pregnancy registries is to keep track of the status and health of your pregnancy and baby. Your name and other personal information are kept confidential. It's important to enroll as soon as possible after getting pregnant.

The information collected in the pregnancy registry can inform doctors so they can help protect the future health of other females with epilepsy — and their babies.

Important results from some of the ongoing pregnancy registries have been published. Ask your doctor to share what they know about the results. For more information visit www.EFA.org.
