Better Late Than Never! Steve Martin Welcomes His First Child -- At Age 67

The actor-musician and wife Anne Stringfield managed to keep the arrival of their baby a secret

Better late than never! Steve Martin, 67, has just welcomed his first child into the world, and reports say he and wife Anne Stringfield are overjoyed.

The New York Post's Page Six first reported the story, and says that the happy couple were recently spotted with their newborn near their Los Angeles home. Both the gender and name of the baby are being kept a secret, but Martin's rep confirmed the news to People, saying that the two "are new parents and recently welcomed a child." Before that, the only hint about the couple's new addition was some cryptic tweets by Martin.

"They worked hard to have the baby," a source tells Page Six. "They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows. ... Steve's very private."

Fortunately, Martin's humor and continued good looks keep him young, because he's going to one old dad. By the time his child is 10 years old, Martin will be 77, and he'll be 85 when the young Martin heads off to college.

At least the actor can turn to his peers when it comes to raising a child in his later years. Michael Douglas had his third child with Catherine Zeta-Jones when he was 58; Clint Eastwood had his youngest, Morgan, when he was 66; and Nick Nolte had daughter Sophie Lane when he was 66. It seems like the old dads of Hollywood are doing alright!

So congratulations, Steve Martin. Here's hoping you get to actually be the Father of the Bride -- or Groom!
