One of Hollywood's biggest producers has lost his battle with cancer. Steven Reuther, responsible for movies like Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing and Rock Star, died Saturday at his home in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 58.
Reuther's career began modestly in the 1970s, as he worked his way up from the mail room of the William Morris talent agency to become a wildly successful movie producer. Over the last 30 years, Reuther produced more than 35 movies, including 9 1/2 Weeks, Pay It forward and last year's The Ugly Truth.
According to IMDB.com, the producer teamed up with Michael Douglas to create Douglas/Reuther Productions. Together they produced several films including Face/Off, which starred John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.
Reuther is survived by a daughter, his mother, two brothers and a sister.
