We’ve been pretty downtrodden lately writing about the awfulness of anonymity, most notably the recent nastygram left for a family of a boy with autism. But take heart: there are good people left in the world and this sweet story proves it.
According to WSMV Channel 4, Mom Ashley England was out with her family for dinner at Stag & Doe restaurant in China Grove, North Carolina. Her 8-year-old special needs son Riley, who has undergone three brain operations for epilepsy and is non-verbal, started getting rowdy. England saw other diners looking at her son and felt embarrassed.
That’s why she was shocked when a waitress with tears in her eyes came by to tell her that another patron had picked up their dinner and left this note: "God only gives special children to special people."
Not only was the gesture incredibly kind, it was well-timed too, as the last month with Riley has been especially hard. "He just doesn't know what we've been going through and how much it was needed at the moment," she told CNN. She posted the note on Facebook, where it has been viewed thousands of times. She’s hoping to find the anonymous bill-payer and thank him in person.
