Cool off this summer with a refreshing strawberry orange dessert that won’t wreck your waistline like most frozen confections. The sweetness from the fresh strawberries means you only need a little bit of sugar in this icy treat.

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the water and orange juice. Stir in the sugar until completely dissolved, about 3 minutes.

    • 2

In a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries with the orange zest until smooth. With the motor running, carefully add the water mixture and blend until fully incorporated.

Pour the puree into an 8-inch metal baking pan and freeze 30 minutes. Remove from freezer and use a fork to scrape any frozen bits around the edges into the center of the pan. Freeze until mixture is frozen, about 1 1/2 hours, removing pan from freezer and scraping with a fork about every 25 minutes.
