If you’ve ever envied your favorite actor’s lifestyle or paycheck, here’s an excellent reason to be glad you’re not famous: When you’re a supernova, you can’t say a single stupid thing without it winding up all over the news.
The most recent celebrity statement to earn scorn came from Liev Schreiber, star of the new CIA flick Salt. Waxing poetic about his family’s commitment to the uber-trendy “green lifestyle,” Schreiber insists that he and parenting-partner Naomi Watts -- are you sitting down? -- actually hand down their kids clothes from one to another. You know, as in hand-me-downs. (Gasp!) How novel! How incredibly PC!
This comes on the heels of Sanda Bullock and Jesse James announcing that they'll be "co-parenting" -- a.k.a. sharing custody and responsibilities, the way many divorced parents do. Next thing you know, we’ll hear of singers who are “biodiversifying” their kids' playrooms by peppering them with plants (foliage releases oxygen!).
A note to celebrities: I'm glad you're doing your part to be a responsible parent, but slapping a fancy name on an everday task doesn't really count.
